Comedian and radio presenter Jalang’o has weighed in on Eric Omondi’s push to have the Kenyan music industry revived.
According to Jalang’o, the problem with Eric is that he is using weed.
“Kamene and I play 80% of Kenyan music on Kiss FM. The problem with my brother Eric is Bhang, that is where his problems begin,” he said in a meeting with content creators on Monday.
Jalang’o further said that Eric’s motion to have media outlets play 75% of Kenyan music will fail because he has not involved stakeholders in the industry and that he wants to fight alone.
“If Eric could have wanted this thing to work, he would have called a few people from the industry. Eric has my number, he has Churchill’s number and even musicians numbers and other personalities. He could have involved all stakeholders.
“He could have called us so that it does not look like it is his fight alone. He decided to go fight alone. Eric, you will be beaten thoroughly. For us comedians, we told him if he continues with trolling us, we will beat him and go show people where he lives and all his problems,” Jalang’o stated.
Responding to Jalang’o, Eric claimed that they were tired of having meetings that do not bear any fruits.
“We are TIRED of Empty Rhetorics, We are Tired of the Status Quo, We are Tired of MEETINGS and COMMITTEES that Bear no FRUITS, We are Tired of those STUPID CARTELS you are Calling ARTISTS, How many Meetings have Artists had in the Past 8 Years with no RESULTS. We are TIRED of CHEAP TALK. ITS TIME FOR ACTION!!! ITS TIME FOR RESULTS!!! It’s very SIMPLE, PLAY 75% KENYAN,” Eric said on Instagram.
Omondi went ahead to share the bill that they will be presenting to parliament on Tuesday titled ‘Supporting and promoting our local artists through the media’.
Last week, attempts by the comedian to protests around the parliament buildings ended up with him being locked at the Central Police Station for a number of hours.
