The US embassy in Kenya has alerted US nationals of a possible terrorist attack.
In a statement that was shared on the embassy’s website, the embassy warned that terrorists could strike areas that are highly frequented by foreigners.
The embassy further said that the attack could occur in Nairobi and other parts of the country.
“Locations frequented by U.S. citizens and other foreigners and tourists in Nairobi and elsewhere in Kenya continue to be attractive targets to terrorists planning to conduct potentially imminent attacks. Terrorist groups could attack with little or no warning, targeting hotels, embassies, restaurants, malls and markets, schools, police stations, places of worship, and other places frequented by foreigners and tourists,” part of the statement read.
The US embassy went ahead to list some of the actions that its citizens should take to avoid being victims of the attack
“Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/foreigners, Review your personal security plans, Be aware of your surroundings, Monitor local media for updates, Avoid protest areas and demonstrations, Avoid crowds and Keep a low profile,” the embassy said.
