While some politicians are trying hard to strengthen allies, some seem to push their’s away.Lets take a look at this week’s politics stories that made headlines :
The rift between President Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto widened when the two publicly differed on the government’s stand on the Senate’s revenue sharing formula on Friday, August 21.
The President while speaking at the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC), Nairobi broke his silence on the issue, which has seen the Senate adjourn for the ninth time and a 12-member committee selected to create an agreeable revenue formula.
Kenyatta supported the formula tabled by the SRC, Commission for Revenue Allocation, which proposes for allocation on the basis of population.
“The money being debated is not mine and this formula was proposed by CRA, indicating that money should be sub-divided equally.
“Now that they are saying that residents of Nairobi are rich, my question is, would residents from Embakasi and Korogocho, who do not have toilets, have similar views? The truth shall stand,” the president stated.
Ruto, while hosting a delegation of grassroots leaders at his Sugoi, Uasin Gishu home, reiterated his stand on the allocation formula and urged Senators to create a win-win formula that will put all counties under consideration.
The DP urged that the Senate has the requisite leadership and wisdom to create a revenue formula as it is a constitutional requirement.
Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka engaged in a heated war of words at the burial of Samuel Mutuku Mulu in Muthetheni, Mwala sub-county over the weekend.
The late Mutuku is the first born son of former politician Joseph Mulu Mutisya.
Being the first time the two leaders were sharing a podium since their bitter fallout, fireworks were expected and the two did their best to play out the prediction.
It was Muthama who took to the stage first and he immediately brought up his new ally Deputy President William Ruto, urging Kalonzo to join DP Ruto’s new political outfit.
“Ruto told me that due to the faith entrusted to him by Kenyans, he had decided to offer himself as a sacrifice, ready to be abused as long as in the end, Kenyans would be saved from the hands of a few,” he stated.
When it was time for Kalonzo to address the crowd, he quickly dismissed Muthama’s invite and accused him of betraying him and orchestrating his recent loss in the polls.
Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has told Deputy President William Ruto to be ready to battle it out with him in 2022.

The Orange Democratic Movement Party has thrown a jab at Deputy President William Ruto over his remarks regarding the Covid-19 supplies scandal that hit KEMSA.
Speaking during a press conference on Saturday, August 22, ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna claimed that Ruto made the statement out of jealousy.
“At least for once it won’t be possible to be blamed for what someone said started in Wuhan as a virus, landed in Italy as a pandemic and now in Kenya as a multi-billion shilling corruption enterprise. I’d rather remain a spectator,” Ruto mocked.
ODM slammed that the statement, noting it was inappropriate because it insinuated that it is okay for money to be stolen as long as he was not involved.
“It expresses the jealousy of being left out of the gravy train,” Sifuna spoke.
