President Uhuru Kenyatta is to meet Boda Boda operators as he charges up to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative reports.

The President’s latest move has elicited reactions from Deputy President William Ruto’s camp, as the DP has been meeting mama mbogas, boda boda operators and the Wanjikus (ordinary citizens) during his campaigns.

On most occasions, the DP has been criticized by his opponents, including ODM leader Raila Odinga, for giving Kenyan ‘peanuts’ yet he is wealthy.

Raila lately attacked Ruto saying it was ironic for him (Ruto) to have just realized the presence of “hustlers” in the country yet he has been in power for eight years.

“Someone would come and start saying we need to talk about the common man, poor man, mkokoteni, driver and so on…but you’ve been there all this time. You didn’t drop from heaven like an angel. You’ve been around,” Rail said.

“Is it the first time that you’ve discovered about mkokoteni people? The haves and haves not? If you’re really concerned, why give them wheelbarrows and not your helicopter?”
