UDA-leaning politicians have pointed fingers to key government officials over the alleged abduction of Deputy President William Ruto’s Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi.
While addressing a presser at the Parliament Buildings over the alleged abduction, the leaders pointed finger at Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Police Inspector general Hillary Mutyambai and Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho over the alleged abduction of Itumbi.
Led by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the Ruto allies read a press statement alleging that Itumbi’s abduction was prompted by his social media posts against Matiang’i, Kibicho, George Kinoti and his clarion call to have IG Mutyambai’s son arrested after he was involved in a road accident that claimed the lives of two Boda Boda riders.
“Itumbi has confirmed that his abductors took turns to beat him while warning him that the torture was in revenge of his social media coverage of CS Matiang’i, PS Karanja Kibicho, the IG Hillary Mutyambai and DCI George Kinoti.
The legislators also disclosed that the search for Itumbi was made easier by inside intelligence offered to them by officers of goodwill who were privy to information about the kidnapping.
They called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to weed out state officers whom they say are using state agencies to intimidate political opponents and to settle personal scores.
The leaders asserted that Itumbi’s abduction had hallmarks of political intimidation written all over it.
