UDA has responded to an order barring them from using the Nyayo National stadium as well as the Kasarani one for their final rally on August 6 just days before the general election is held.
A letter addressed to UDA from Sports Kenya stated that the team had been barred from using the two stadiums on the mentioned day because they have been booked for peace concerts thereby canceling an earlier contract that had permitted them to use the stadium.
Azimio also claimed that it had booked the same venue on the same day for their final rally.
“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sport Center- Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between August 5 to 7, 2022. The facility will not be available for their use,” part of the letter, which was copied to Sports CS Amina Mohammed and ministry’s PS Joe Kudo said.

UDA has however protested the move to revoke their permit noting that at the time they were booking neither Azimio nor any other institution had sent a request to use the stadium on July 6.
The party claims that there is a hidden agenda from the government to bar them from using the venue.
Addressing the press, Ruto’s campaign team has expressed their anger demanding the Azimio team to prove when they booked the venue. The team said that they will be heading to court to challenge the decision to cancel their permit.
“We are prepared to challenge the ministry of sports legally on that because we have a signed contract . We want Azimio to show proof of when they booked the stadium. We are ready to proceed with the intended arrangements. This is the same schedule we have also provided to IEBC,” the head of Ruto;s campaign secretariat Josephat Nanok said.
Ruto’s other allies also took their protests to social media with some accusing president Kenyatta of having a hand in the matter.
