Two Times Tanzanian DC Siriel Mchembe Has Caused A Stir With Her Controversial Rules On Married Couples

Date:

Siriel Mchembe, the District Commissioner of Handeni in Tanga Province Tanzania, has once again elicited reactions with her controversial rules.

Recently, while attending a funeral in her district, Mchembe announced that she had banned couples from checking each other’s text messages  with the aim of reducing cases of jealousy that end up being tragic.

“People are prohibited from taking the law into their own hands. I have banned a man from reading a woman’s messages and a woman from reading a man’s messages. If you find your partner being referred to as baby, disregard it, just know it is a mistake.

“That is the problem with the internet. Don’t get stressed with that just tell your wife it is wrong it should not be repeated,” she said while attending the funeral of a 35-year old man who had been brutally murdered in a love triangle.

The parents of the deceased revealed that their son had earlier been caught with someone’s wife. He was made to pay a fine, which he did only for him to be murdered.

According to his mother, the deceased went after the woman after she claimed that she was not married while calling upon the government to intervene so that the murderers can be brought to book.

Mchembe however called upon those wanting more wives to marry if their religion allows it and vowed to return to the area and have a lengthy discussion with the locals over the issue.

Last year, Mchembe caused a stir when she warned lactating mothers against breastfeeding their husbands as it caused a shortage of milk among the babies.
