President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to attend the historic swearing in of his deputy William Samoei Ruto at the Kasarani Stadium.
The swearing in which will take place on Tuesday 13th is likely to attract a number of visitors including 20 heads of state and governments that have reportedly confirmed attendance.
On his side, President Kenyatta while thanking Kenyans for holding a peaceful election said he intends to oversee a smooth transition of power and that all the necessary orders to facilitate this process had been issued.
“In keeping to the pledge that I made to uphold the rule of law when I took the oath of office, I commit to executing the orders of this court to the letter,” Kenyatta said.
Despite feeling disappointed after his presidential candidate Raila Odinga and Martha karua lost the election to William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua, president Uhuru will have to rise above pettiness and do some things for the president elect.
Most importantly, Mr. Kenyatta will give out instruments of power ranging from the constitution to the symbolic ceremonial sword before millions of Kenyans and the entire world.
Another vital thing Uhuru will have to do to Ruto is to award him the chief of the order of the golden heart which is the highest award that any sitting head of state must always give to the president-elect.
In the meantime, Kenyans from all walks of life have urged the president elect William Ruto to reduce the cost of living even as he prepares to be sworn in on Tuesday.
William Ruto promised to reduce the cost of unga to around 90 shillings and significantly reduce the cost of cooking oil and fuel that is currently being sold at 159 shillings per litter. The president elect further promised to break apart the state capture which has made Kenya poor according to him.
