Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff has for the first time spoken after being humiliated during Azimio la Umoja rally at Tononoka Grounds, Mombasa.
Taking to his Twitter account, the lawmaker lamented about leaders who want to use force while saying that the truth will soon be told.
“It’s unfortunate and a scary fact that our opponents are so desperate for power to use violence and insinuate that it has party blessings. Leadership is a calling. Leadership is knowing when to act, when to react and most importantly when not to react. The truth will be told soon,” Abdulswamad wrote.
Abdulswamad was humiliated by the crowd as well as Suna East MP Junet Mohamed in the presence of ODM leader Raila Odinga during the Sunday rally.
It all began when Abdulswamad was introducing aspirants when a bottle of water was thrown at him from the crowd.
The MP had to stop and hand over the programme to Junet. Abdulswamad then tried to engage Mombasa MP Hassan Joho after the bottle incident but according to a video circulating on social media, it looks like the governor dismissed him.
Junet then went to address him as he was taking his seat and he clearly humiliated him by pushing his head with his finger.

Abdulswamad experienced humiliation because of the rivalry with businessman Suleiman Shahbal. Both want to succeed Joho as Mombasa governor under the ODM ticket.
It is alleged that the meeting was disrupted at one time as the supporters of the two aspirants clashed and the leaders had to intervene for peace to be restored.
In the end, Raila called Abdulswamad and Shahbal to the stage and urged youths not to engage in violence.
“You are all ODM members, if Shahbal wins in the nominations, Nassir will support him. Should Nassir win then Shahbal will do likewise, we don’t want to see the youth fighting because of leaders,” the party leader said.
On the other hand, Junet is not sorry for what he did to his colleague but indicated that Shahbal was the one who was at fault and also insisted that the truth will come out.
“SC the truth will come out tomorrow… but tell your good friend Shahbal this is not the way to do it.. there are better ways to deal with a strong opponent,” he said through a tweet while responding to Senior Counsel Ahmenasir Abdullahi.
