The move by Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to enter into a post-election agreement with Uhuru’s Jubilee Party has widened his rift between him and his estranged lieutenants from his backyard.
Ever since Wiper signed an agreement with Jubilee, Kalonzo’s former party chairman, and Makueni County Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama have met twice in a desperate attempt to form a divergent political font in Ukambani.
The two leaders are said to have met twice, with the first meeting taking place in Muthama’s Nairobi’s office while the second one was conducted at an undisclosed location over the weekend.
Speaking in his Kamba dialect Kibwana took to his Twitter wall hinting of a possible meeting with Muthama in Ukambani once the coronavirus has come to an end and forge a political future of the lower eastern region.
According to Governor Kibwana, the planned meeting would take stock of the region’s status of development.
Kibwana has in the past criticized the former Vice President for doing little for the region in his over two decades of leadership.
On the other side, Muthama accused Kalonzo of nepotism in the nomination of his son Kennedy Musyoka to East Africa Legislative Assembly.
According to Muthama, Kalonzo should have handed the opportunity to any other qualified son of Kamba land who has voted and supported him years.
“This means if Kalonzo ascends to the presidency, he will pick his son to succeed him,” Muthama said.
Earlier in the year, Muthama together with Ukambani MPs; Victor Munyaka (Machakos), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), and Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East) hinted of joining Ruto’s camp for political prosperity of the region.

Governor Kibwana who left Wiper Party said the party lacked democracy and describe the party as opportunist waiting for the presidency to be delivered at his doorstep.
Kibwana has previously accused Kalonzo of Wiper’s strength to make his county – Makueni ungovernable.
Kibwana’s school of thought might have also been supported by Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu. Ngilu has accused Kalonzo of being her woes with the county’s MCAs.
“Let us think of this party called Wiper, is it finishing people other than helping mwananchi?” Ngilu questioned Kalonzo’s intentions.
According to Ngilu, it is time the community ditch Kalonzo citing his record as “barren development record”.
After signing an agreement with Jubilee party, Kalonzo’s supporters led by Mutula Kilonzo Jr (Makueni), Boniface Kabala (Machakos), and Kitui’s Enock Wambua declared Kalonzo Musyoka as the only spokesperson of the region.
“We call to order those behind insults and encourage our people to refuse to be used to insult leaders by a small clique of power brokers whose main is to auction the Kamba Community to the highest bidder,” A statement by Wanbua said.
Currently, Kalonzo, Kibwana, and Machakos Governor Mutua have announced they will running for the topmost seat in the country come 2022.
