There are reports that the Nairobi-Nakuru highway has almost been turned into a parking lot with travelers forced to spend the night in the cold.
According to reports, the vehicles could not move from both sides of the highway due to overlapping which even made the situation worse.

According to some sources, the traffic started around 8:30pm yesterday when a truck scraped a toyota fielder just before the railway overpass.The truck had” locked” itself with its trailer in an “L” shape blocking both lanes.
Left with no option, others turned the road into a lodging after they parked their vehicles by the roadside to spend the night. As if that is not enough, most of those traveling with their loved ones took advantage of the sittion to spend some good times.
“I am stranded in this traffic and today this will be my lodging. Me and my bae will just sleep in our car until the traffic police brings the situation to an end. I urge my fellow motorists to forget about going to sleep at home because the traffic snarl-up is several kilometers from here. Sisi leo tutalala kwa kiti ya nyuma.” said one Justus wanyama.
Consequently, those using the busy Nairobi Nakuru highway are advised to go through Gilgil towards Olkalou Ndundori road onto Lanet towards Nyahururu and use Subukia road.
Despite the Nairobi-Nakuru highway being very busy , the calls to upgrade it into a dual carriageway have always fallen on deaf ears. This has made motorists plying that route suffer serious consequences in case of a serious accident.
