Since disagreeing openly with the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s private results, the commission’s vice chairperson Juliana Cherera has been the talk of town.
Ranging from being trolled to being hated and loved in equal measure, Juliana Cherera has found herself owning several social media accounts across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.Â
A spot check conducted by Sonko News established that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission vice chairperson has more than four Facebook accounts so far. Apparently, all the names are christened “Juliana Cherera ” with different profile pictures.
However, it has now emerged that all those New Facebook/Twitter/Instagram accounts may not only be fake but also misleading.
For instance, one of the Juliana Cherera Facebook accounts claimed that her life was in danger since she was being pursued by hitmen after she and four other commissioners protested the final results by Wafula Chebukati. Below were some of the sentiments written by the alleged accounts:
“The hit squad assigned to finish me is led by Benard Korir Kipsang and Costa Cherutich Keny. They have been trailing my movements since yesternight. The order is shoot to kill. I am just a woman.”
Another account wrote: “I was bribed 1 billion to support the chair’s decision but I rejected it. My faith, conscience and integrity does not allow me to celebrate impunity and injustice. The whole process was bungled! Now they want to assassinate me today evening. Stand with me in prayers, champions of justice.”
Another post stated: “At least I stood for the truth. The government should take care of my children after my assassination which is supposed to happen tomorrow. May God bless Kenya.”
The last post by Cherera read: “So they have ordered for my assassination on August 17th at 4.33pm. I urge all kenyans to pray for me as my life is in danger. Standing for the truth is the reason for all this. The strongest woman or man in the world is the one who stands for truth. We are determined to bring sanity back to IEBC. No millions or intimidation will compromise my integrity.
