TikToker Brian Chira will be laid to rest today at his family’s home in Gathanje, Ingitei village, Githunguri in Kiambu county.
The body will leave Kenyatta University mortuary in the morning.
Chira was son to the late Sofia Wambui Chira, grandson to Esther Njeri and nephew to Regina Njoki Chira and late Alice Njoki Chira.
He was cousin to Ian Mureithi, Ryan Chira, Stacy Chira and Sofia Njeri.
Hundreds turned up to give the TikToker his last respects ahead of the burial.
His funeral fundraiser surpassed Sh7.3 million within only 72 hours since it was launched.
The fundraiser was spearheaded by Chira’s close friend and content creator Baba Talisha.
“We did it team. Mc Chris Kirubi, Team Mwiti, Team Big Daddy, Team Sekena. thank you guys. Four lions, today 7.3M innit,” Baba Talisha said during a TikTok live session.
He had previously announced that he had a fundraising goal of Sh10 million before Chira’s final send-off.
On March 22, the fundraiser had exceeded Sh5 million within just 48 hours of its launch.
With the support of his online community and fans, funds were swiftly mobilized to ensure Chira receives a dignified send-off.
Baba Talisha revealed that Chira’s grandmother had a special request for him to be buried in a graduation gown.
He also added that the burial will be on March 26 and the funeral will take place in Githunguri where Chira’s grandmother lives.
“The body viewing will happen at Kenyatta Funeral Home and not at the grandmother’s home in line with the Kikuyu tradition,” Baba Talisha said.
Chira died in a road accident at around 3 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024, with reports of his demise spreading on social media on Saturday afternoon.
