Fresh details have emerged following an incident whereby a man a brutally murdered his wife leaving their 4-month old baby unharmed inside a car.
24-year old man identified as Eric Mutugi slit his wife wife’s throat at Gatuanyaga village in Thika East, Kiambu County on September 9 inside a car that they had hired for an outing.
He then rushed to a nearby bush to hide but was flushed out by angry local who later lynched him.
The four-month old baby was found in the co-driver’s seat with food remains indicating that the family had had a good time before things went wrong.
According to a family friend, Mutugi and his wife were to travel this weekend for a formal introduction at his in-laws home in Bungoma and also to receive their blessings.
“They welcomed a child four months ago, and had planned to visit the woman’s parents in Bungoma this Saturday. The visit would have served as both introduction and unveiling of the baby to the woman’s parents,” said the family friend.
Thika East Deputy Commander Nyaga Muthee said the law enforcers are yet to establish why the love between the couple who welcomed a baby in April this year went sour.
Inside the hired vehicle, the police also found a sharp knife and a metal file imploring that the suspected had planned to murder his 20-year old wife.
According to police, the two are from Kenyatta Road in Juja, Kiambu County
The bodies of the two are lying at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika awaiting postmortem.
Locals are still dumbfounded as the unfortunate incidence had happened a few meters from where another man was last month found dead and his skin removed.
The body of 36-year old Simon Githae was discovered by residents of Gatuanyaga who alerted the police.
The deceased worked at a flower farm and even showed up for a work a day before meeting his death.
