Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his team on Tuesday July 19 took their campaigns to Nakuru County.
In Gilgil, the former prime minister promised locals a lot of goodies and urged them to turn up in large numbers on August 9, so that they can vote for him to become the head of state and take over from the incumbent Uhuru Kenyatta. Kenyatta will be heading home for retirement having served twice as the president from 2013.
Raila said that anyone who will not go to a polling station to vote will have wasted a vote thus giving his opponents an upper hand.
“We don’t want even one vote to go to waste, any vote wasted goes to our opponents. I want all of you to vote. Youths, there is no sleeping on that day and for women, a man should not come near you on that day. Tell them that it is locked. We will celebrate after victory, and it is when you will open,” Raila said.
The ODM leader asked voters to wake up early on August 9 and participate in the election exercise. He urged them to help the elderly in voting and tasked the youths with overseeing the counting and announcing of votes in polling stations.
He however expressed his fear of being elected as president without governors, MPs, Women Reps and MCAs from Azimio, noting that he will suffer in the hands of his opponents.
“I don’t want you to vote for me, to ascend up there without soldiers. Those other guys will squeeze my balls. Do you want my balls to be squeezed?” Raila questioned the audience adding, “Vote for me and my people.”
Raila was accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Peter Kenneth, Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui among other leaders
