Royal Media Services Chairman S.K Macharia is on the spot for allegedly ordering demolition of a Hotel belonging to foreign investors.
The hotel in question is Sonrisa Hotel in Diani which stands on a disputed piece of land. The investors angrily came out to condemn the move.
Videos shared on social media show demolitions of the hotel under the guard of armed police men.
A woman, believed to be among the investors, is heard complaining that S.K Macharia was the one who had ordered the demolition of the property.
“S.K Macharia, what he is doing with the assistants of the police. Look how they treat investors. They don’t have any orders. Nothing. Now they are ashamed they are hiding but this is how investors are treated.,” a seemingly angered woman said.
In another related video, a hotelier claimed that those evicting them had orders that are not related to them.
“I can’t even tell you what is happening here, they are trying to kill all of us. They have fake orders which are not even related to us. They don’t have any order related to my name or property 48 and they are under the supervision of OCS Madam Damaris and OCPD and they are trying to kill all of us,” she said.

Another source however says that the media mogul obtained court orders to reclaim the piece of land that was illegally sold to the Polish nationals.
Kenyans however had the following to say regarding the issue.
“Citizen tv can’t show its owner S.K Macharia chasing investors away in that video clip circulating online,” W. M Martha said.
“Hotel Sonrisa in Diani is being demolished by police acting on SK Macharia’s orders. This will be life under Baba. Macharia was illegally allocated broadcast frequencies because of Baba in 2003. He wants to steal his grandson’s inheritance from his late son’s marriage. A thief!” Cyprian N. Nyakundi claimed.
