The late Tecra Muigai was laid to rest at a private ceremony dubbed Celebration of a Star, on Saturday, May 16, at their family home in Karai area, Naivasha.
Despite the current Covid-19 pandemic that has brought the entire country to a standstill, the who-is-who in Kenya found a way to make it to Naivasha to pay their final respects.
Helicopters filled the lake town side as various leaders trooped to the Karanja home.
Tecra’s body left the Lee Funeral Home in a black Jaguar hearse, at around 10 a.m.
Classic FM presenter Maina Kageni was the chosen MC for the day and he gracefully oversaw Tecra’s final farewell.
Some of the leaders who were present included: Senators James Orengo, Moses Wetangula, George Khaniri and Governor Lee Kinyanjui.
ODM Party leader – a close friend to the family – Raila Odinga, was the chief guest at the ceremony, and he was accompanied by his wife Ida and brother Oburu.
Lillies were strewn across the spacious white tents that complemented Tecra’s white casket, with white roses also a dominant feature at the ceremony.
Tecra’s sister, Anerlisa, fought through a barrage of emotions as she read out her ‘Eight Point Tribute to my Soulmate’.
“Your exit from the stage in your prime has forced me to reflect on the meaning of life and the lives of other phenomenal figures who left early, who like you, lived their lives fully and with a burning urgency to accomplish a mission.
“Now it is clear to me why you kept pushing us to do it now and do it today,” a tearful Anerlisa eulogised. Check out the images below:
