Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was forced to apologize after sending a false death scare involving a former county employee Dr. Robert Ayisi.
This comes after Governor Sonko sent an alert announcing the death of the former Count Secretary and Health CEC.
“It is with great sorrow and sadness that I announce the death of Dr. Robert Ayisi… He will be remembered for his role in streamlining the health sector in Nairobi county. My deepest condolences to his family, relatives, and friends,” read part of Sonko’s tweet.
But it later emerged that the former county official was not dead as claimed.
According to reports Ayisi had been admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) at Mater Hospital.

As a result, Governor Sonko in his retraction deleted the tweet and promised to personally issue an apology to the family of Dr. Ayisi.
“There was a technicality that happened. Some of our staff sent out the alert without proper consultation,” Elkana Jacob said.
He said the employees who had sent the false alarm were directed to proceed on compulsory leave to pave way for investigations to determine why they sent the alert without consulting the family.
