“Some Machines Have Been Stopped Temporarily,” Akuku Danger’s Sister Gives An Update On His Condition

Date:

Comedian Mannerson Oduor Ochieng alias Akuku Danger has been hospitalized since last week after he seriously fell sick.

His sister Lydia Ojowi has however revealed that Akuku’s health is improving but he is still in ICU.

“When I came he was already pale and could not open his eyes. Since yesterday his complexion is back and he has been able to open his eyes. Some machines have been stopped temporarily, there is progress since we came here. He is still in ICU,” she said.

Lydia said that the comedian was born with Sickle Cell anaemia, a condition that has seen him a regular visitor in hospitals.

“Akuku was born with sickle cell anemia, he has been on and off the hospital. There are times his organs are affected by lack of oxygen and his body pains. He has been like that ever since he was born,” she said in an interview.

Lydia further revealed that Akuku Danger’s recent illness was triggered by Pneumonia which caused his organs to start failing.

“Being anemic…it means when he is sick he is worse than a normal person because less blood reaches his lungs. Pneumonia was the trigger this time… he started feeling the pain and it got to his lungs…his organs started to fail,” she said.

The family has been calling upon his fans and Kenyans in general to help in raising funds to cater for the hospital bill that has so far surpassed one million.

“The 200,000 was required before he is admitted in ICU, that is why we posted the appeal urgently. Now, our bill piles by 310, 000 per day…by now we are at Ksh 1, 169,000. NHIF has paid 98,000 for the ICU bed, we have paid some but it keeps rising,” Lydia said.

Akuku is currently admitted at The Nairobi West hospital.
