Reports reaching Sonko News desk is that Citizen TV will pay dearly during William Ruto’s swearing in ceremony at the Kasarani stadium on Tuesday.
It has emerged that Despite being the most watched media station in Kenya, Citizen will not have exclusive rights to air the most awaited event.
By this, it implies that it will depend on stations with exclusive rights and to get this, they may have to pay these stations millions of money to air the event.
Unlike the other national events where local media channels got exclusive rights to cover events, its only KBC and multichoice/DSTV that have been given exclusive rights. Consequently, the likes of Citizen will rely on the feed from these two to share with their audience.
DSTV through their official twitter handle confirmed that they will indeed air the kasarani event during William Ruto’s swearing in. This is what DSTV wrote: ” It is true, there will be Kenya Presidential Inauguration pop up channel 197 which will go live on 13th September 2022, and it will close on 14th September 2022.”
To confirm the bad news to the Citizen TV, an account linked to one of the insider’s in Ruto’s camp had the following news to deliver:
“When we cautioned Citizen TV to be fair and balanced, time without number brainless minions told us it’s a private station and we should open our own. We don’t want to hear anyone crying now, let them source signal from Canada for an event in Kasarani or ask Joe Mucheru to hack the signal…si mko na pesa. Don’t accept a private apology when the humiliation was made in the public.”
