Sitting MCA Arrested With 57 Stones of Bhang

A sitting MCA is among the suspects arrested with six sacks of Cannabis Sativa popularly known as bhang.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, December 21, named Golicha Meja, MCA for Chari Ward in Isiolo County among the suspects.

“So far, the detectives have established that the 2nd suspect (Golicha Meja) is a sitting MCA for Chari Ward in Isiolo County,” DCI’s statement read in part.

He was arrested alongside another suspect who was identified as Nura Abdi Diba.

The arrest came after Transnational Organized Crimes Unit officers and a multi-agency team flagged their Toyota Land Cruiser in Isiolo Town.

Detectives then interrogated them before raiding Nuru’s house where they found six sacks containing 57 stones of bhang.

“The two were flagged down within Isiolo town while driving a motor vehicle make Toyota Land Cruiser Reg No. KDG 034G, before the team proceeded to the house of Nura Abdi Diba at Kambi Garba Estate on the outskirts of Isiolo town where six gunny bags containing the 57 stones of the prohibited herb were recovered,” DCI indicated.

“The exhibits have since been escorted to DCI headquarters for further processing as the suspects undergo investigative interviewing.”
