The political rivalry between Kisii leaders; Mugirango South MP Silvanus Osoro and Governor Simba Arati has once again played out after GSU officers raided the governor’s office on Monday morning.
Speaking about the raid, Osoro slammed Arati accusing him of using goons, disguised as boda boda riders, to intimidate those who don’t support him.
According to him, the move to deploy GSU officers is aimed at restoring order in the county due to the chaos that had allegedly been caused by the governor.
“You are using goons in the name of bodaboda riders to harass and intimidate those you believe are not supporting you. You are preventing genuine bodaboda riders from accessing Kisii town in the name of protecting your goons. We cannot sit back and allow that to happen. We have a government that must protect its people,” the Kenya Kwanza MP said.
Osoro further said that more GSU officers will be deployed to block demonstrations that Arati had planned this week.
“We’ve heard what you are planning to do. Let me tell you my brother, we won’t allow any demonstrations when our students are sitting for their exams. We will send in more GSU officers and make sure that nothing like that happens. You cannot play with the government,” he said.
Arati, on the other hand accused the government of intimidating him by using the general service unit officers.
He however said that he is not shaken and will not run away from the county because of that.
