Shock as Husband and Wife are Nabbed With 2,500 Ammunition

Police officers have been left in shock after finding over 2,500 pieces of ammunition stashed in small packets by a couple.

In a report filed by the National Police Service on Thursday, April 18, the law enforcement officers ambushed the said couple, Josphat Maina Karanja and Teresiah Wairimu, and ransacked their home where they found the bullets.

The raided their home within Minjore area, Kirima Sub County where they counted 2,658 ammunitions.

“Police in Laikipia yesterday April 17, 2024 nabbed 2, 658 rounds of ammunitions from the home of one Josphat Maina Karanja within Minjore area, Kirima Sub-County,” the NPS statement read in part.

“The owner Josphat Karanja was also arrested together with his wife Teresiah Wairimu, during the raid,” it added.

According to police, the members of the public tipped them off after noticing fishy activities leading to the ambush.

“The National Police Service thanks the members of public for the success of this intelligence-led operation.”

By the time of this publication, the National Police Service had not explained why the couple had stored the ammunitions at their home.
