Hours just after two Kenya Kwanza principals, William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi, landed in Washington DC, USA, trouble is already brewing in Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
The big problem in the Alliance seems to be how DP Ruto will share responsibilities between Mt. Kenya region that has stood with him for a long time and his recently found allies from ANC and Ford Kenya.
Mathira MP confirmed that the running mate of the Alliance’s flagbearer, who is believed to to be DP Ruto, will come from the Mt. Kenya region and Mudavadi together with his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetang’ula were already aware of that when they decided to join  DP Ruto.
“When Musalia & Wetangula came for discussion, we were forthright with them. They were told already that DP Ruto’s running mate will come from the mountain. They joined us with that knowledge,” Gachagua said in an interview with Citizen TV on Monday morning.
The statement did not settle well with the ANC party who have responded by saying that the Alliance has not yet settled on the flag bearer and his running mate.
In a statement, ANC’s Secretary General Simon Gikuru said that Gachagua has no authority to speak for Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
“Kenya Kwanza Alliance has not decided on it’s presidential running mate candidates. This will happen and be unveiled at an appropriate time by our principals Musalia Mudavadi, Dr. William Ruto and Moses Wetang’ula.
“In this regard, Hon Rigathi Gachagua no authority to speak for Kenya Kwanza on the matter hence his sentiments are premature, untimely and unwarranted,” part of the statement read.

DP Ruto and Mudavadi are away on a 10 day trip abroad, both US and London where they are expected to have a series of diplomatic engagements with US government officials and Kenyan citizens in the diaspora living in America.
