Three terror convicts escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison, prison bosses got fired and two days later the escapees are arrested… some people are not buying this story one bit.
Makueni senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr is among a handful of Kenyans who are poking holes in government story on Kamiti prison break.
The three terror convicts who escaped from Kamiti Maximum Prison on Monday November 15th morning were arrested on Thursday November 18th in Kitui county.
Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda (34), Joseph Juma Odhiambo (30) and Mohammed Ali Abikar (35) were arrested in Enzio forest in Mwingi East, Kitui County.
The three were arrested following a tip-off from the public and are believed to have been heading to Somalia.
The three convicts escaped from the highly guarded prison after dislodging a brick on the wall of their cell. They then used blankets, strings and broomsticks to create makeshift ropes that they used to scale two high walls around the correctional facility.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had offered a Ksh60 million reward to anyone who would volunteer information that would lead to the convicts’ arrest.
The daring escape saw several Kamiti prison officers arrested for allegedly aiding the criminals to flee.
Wycliffe Ogalo, the Commissioner-General of the Kenya Prisons Service, was fired in connection with the incident, President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed former military man Brigadier (Rtd) John Kibaso Warioba as the new prisons boss.
The unfolding of events following Kamiti prison break has made several people to concluded that there is more than meets the eye in the escape.
Some people speculate the government staged the prison break in order to fire Wycliffe Ogalo and replace him with the military man.
Kenyans raised questions why Uhuru fired Ogalo yet other senior government officials implicated in corrupt scandals were never dismissed from their positions.
