Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has been accused of neglecting his one year old son whom he sired out of wedlock.
The one-year old’s mother moved to court seeking orders to have Ole Kina give her Kshs350,000 monthly upkeep.
Through her lawyer Ojijo Kepher, the woman says that she met the senator in 2019 and they got involved in an intimate relationship for some time before she conceived but when she informed Ole Kina, he cut off communication with her.
“When I conceived and realized I was pregnant, I immediately informed the respondent that he was going to be a father. But to my dismay and utter shock the respondents cut off communication with me,” part of the court documents read.
The petitioner says that she delivered on October 22, 2020. She also informed Ole Kina about the birth of the boy and asked him to take responsibility but she never got feedback.
“I was left with no other choice but to settle all the cost and bills during the pregnancy, scans, birthing without any involvement or assistance of the respondent,” she says.
She attached the medical bills and receipts in the court documents.
The woman claims that the senator has shown no interest in taking care of their son and that he is not concerned about his welfare.
“I have since lost my employment and cannot fully sustain the basic needs of the minor at his tender age alone,” she claims.
Due to Ole Kina’s behavior, the woman was compelled to have her lawyer write a letter of demand addressed to him.
According to the letter dated September 3, the Kshs350, 000 was budgeted was broken down into Ksh.17,000 for house help, food Ksh.50,000, medical Ksh.40,000, shelter Ksh.80,000, clothing Ksh.50,000, entertainment Ksh.43,000, utility bills Ksh.50,000 and service charge of Ksh.20,000.
“But he has treated it with contempt thus making me believe that he has deliberately abdicated his parental responsibility,” the woman said.
She also wants the court to order Ole Kina to provide her Kshs200,000 monthly child support until the case she filed is heard and determined.
