Sam Altman has joined Microsoft two days after being fired as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of OpenAI, ChatGPT Parent Company.
His new job was made public by Microsoft Chairman Satya Nadella through a social media platform X formerly known as Twitter.
Emmett Shear on the other hand took over As OpenAI interim CEO.
Satya however emphasized that Microsoft was still determined to continue with innovative partnership with OpenAI.
“We remain committed to our partnership with OpenAI and have confidence in our product roadmap, our ability to continue to innovate with everything we announced at Microsoft Ignite, and in continuing to support our customers and partners, ” Satya’s statement read in part.
” We look forward to getting to know Emmett Shear and OAI’s new leadership team and working with them. And we’re extremely excited to share the news that Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, together with colleagues, will be joining Microsoft to lead a new advanced AI research team. We look forward to moving quickly to provide them with the resources needed for their success, ” he added.
Altman firing came as a shock as OpenAI revealed that it had lost confidence on his ability to lead.
However, some insiders noted that the decision to send home the CEO was not unanimously supported by some stakeholders.
Reports pointed out at divisions within the ranks following his dismissal.
Without letting the dust to settle, Altman landed his next opportunity which is gamechanging and is expected to cause storm in the tech sector.
Altman is credited for popularizing ChatGPT which is now used gobally to perform different functions.
