Police are hunting down Mumias East MP Peter Salasya for allegedly threatening to harm a Kakamega magistrate over an unfavorable ruling.
The magistrate, Gladys Kiama of the Kakamega Small Claims Court filed the report at the Kakamega police station on Monday November 27.
In her statement, Kiama claimed that Salasya threatened to end her life after she ordered him to pay Kshs500,000 including accrued debts that he owes businessman Robert Lutta.
“At around 1230 hours while at Kakamega Law Courts, having delivered a judgement in a small claim matter vide case no. SSC E541/2023 against Hon. Peter Salasya, MP for Mumias East Constituency where he had been sued for failing to refund the money loaned to him by the claimant, he (Salasya) confronted her (Magistrate) outside the courtroom and threatened to kill her and then took off.
“He (Salasya) has since been calling her number and texting threatening messages to her via WhatsApp. Investigations have commenced,” read the police report.
Police are still looking for Salasya who is reportedly at large.
Lutta had sued Salasya on October 23, after he failed to pay him money that he loaned him in December 2022.
The lawmaker was supposed to clear the debt in to months but he became elusive.
