Sonko News has learnt that William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is no longer interested in Johnson Sakaja as their Nairobi county gubernatorial candidate.
A few days ago after Musalia Mudavadi crossed over to William Ruto’s side, our sources learnt that UDA was keen on the vibrant Nairobi senator flying the Kenya Kwanza coalition ticket.
For Kenya kwanza, the Nairobi top seat has been an emotional issue with the two hopefuls senator Sakaja and Bishop Margaret wanjiru openly disagreeing in public. In fact, the Nairobi Senator got the better part of the female bishop after she literally took him head on.
From a video clip seen by Sonko News, the visibly angry Margaret wanjiru while on a rally in the city warned Johnson Sakaja that he was in the wrong place. She not only slapped his arms but also lectured him like a small child while on top of their vehicles.
Being a gentleman, Johnson Sakaja played cool in a bid to let the situation pass. However, Sonko News established that political sibling rivalry was the major cause of the melee that occurred on that particular Tuesday.
According to our sources, Margaret wanjiru was so mad with Sakaja because she could not stomach the fact that he was being favored by the UDA fraternity despite being a newcomer who just joined Ruto the other day in the company of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula in what was dubbed “earthquake” at the Bomas of kenya.
Thus, Bishop Margert wanjiru was battling jealousy only comparable to that of a hungry hyena. Sources close to the woman of God reveal that she thought she would ride on Ruto’s wave to win the Nairobi seat, only for her goose to be cooked by the entrance of Musalia (and ofcourse Sakaja).
Musalia was/is also keen on controlling Nairobi politics by fronting senator Sakaja because Mudavadi knows very well that the best he can get in Ruto’s government is a cabinet secretary position.
However, our top source within William Ruto’s circles has revealed that the Nairobi politics is not going on well as expected in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance with some quarters using all the avenues possible to edge out senator Sakaja from being given an upper hand.
There are forces within the deputy president that are now pushing for Bishop Margaret Wanjiru to be the Kenya Kwanza Nairobi gubernatorial candidate for two reasons.
The first reason is that Johnson sakaja is as broke as a church mouse and may not mount a serious campaign to challenge the candidate that will be fronted by the Azimio coalition. According to these forces, only Margaret wanjiru can run a good campaign in the city because of her perceived deep pockets thanks to the church that gives her some good amount of Sadaka.
The second reason why Ruto’s UDA is not interested in Sakaja is because the man has strong ideological views that may make him uncontrollable after he gets the big seat in Nairobi. Simply put, Sakaja may not accept to be managed like TV by a remote control like the likes of Sonko or waititu.
Unlike the likes of Millicent Omanga and Karen Nyamu who are interested in the Nairobi women rep and senatorial seat under the UDA (and may easily be controlled like puppets), senator sakaja is no longer an option when it comes to the Nairobi top seat.
On the other hand, Bishop Margaret wanjiru is said to be not only soft but also friendly hence it may be easy to tell her left, right, center and she does exactly that.
To further put the last nail on Sakaja’s political coffin, the UDA fraternity believes that the man is only in Kenya Kwanza by body while in the actual sense he is in Azimio by blood, soul and mind. Simply put, they don’t just trust this man and would rather lose the seat to the Azimio side!
