‘Ruto’s Mole’ In Azimio Ayub Savula Abandons His Deputy Governorship Roles Before He Is Sworn In

Date:

It seems that there is trouble in Kakamega county government top leadership even before the newly elected governor Fernandes Barasa and his deputy Ayub Savula are sworn in.

This is after Savula publicly stated that he has equal powers like Fernandes and they will be sharing the county government equally.

“Don’t let anyone lie to you that Savula returned to deputyship, we have divided the county government and the government of Kakamega into two. Barasa has taken half and Savula has taken half,” he said adding that, “Constitutionally, Kamagega has ten ministries. Barasa has taken 5 and I have also taken 5. I am not a deputy governor, I am a co-governor,” he said in a yet to be identified function.

To reiterate his point further, he took to twitter and likened his situation to that of President-elect William Ruto, Moses Wetang’ula and Musalia Mudavadi.

“I AM NOT A DEPUTY GOVERNOR. I am the CO GOVERNOR OF KAKAMEGA. That was our agreement. Just like president William Ruto promised Wetangula and Mudavadi 30% of the government we see him living to that promise. In Azimio Fernandes Barasa and must keep our word. Fifty Fifty,” Savula said.

This comes just a day after he claimed that he had always supported Ruto and was only forced into Azimio by DCI when he was arrested with his two wives over graft charges. He however vowed to work with the president elect after his swearing in ceremony that is scheduled for Tuesday September 13.

Savula was among those who had expressed interest in succeeding Wycliffe Oparanya. He had intended to vie on a DAP-K ticket before he pulled out of the race to deputize Fernandes in what was seen as a move to lock William Ruto out of Kakamega.

Savula and Fernandes are supposed to be sworn in on September 15.
