Many hours after blogger Dennis Itumbi was allegedly kidnapped, his boss deputy president William Samoei Ruto is yet to make an official statement condemning the act.
Many Kenyans had expected the second in command to strongly condemn the alleged kidnapping of the chief communication strategist at his office.
A source inside the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) which spoke to Sonko News on phone complained about the silence of the deputy president.
“Our doyen DP ruto should speak. I hate how he is silent on this issue. As a member of UDA, I am really disappointed that Itumbi is only being defended by junior politicians. If Ruto continues keeping quiet on such issues then we his soldiers will coil our tail. If such can happen to a whole Itumbi then who are we?“ said the source who requested for anonymity.
Dennis Itumbi is that Blogger who never hesitates to take a bullet for his boss DP Ruto on a number of issues whether personal or political.
Ranging from defending him to being at loggerheads with other leaders, Mr. Itumbi never shies away from telling off those that criticize the second in command.
On several occasions, Itumbi has always insulted and called names high profiled individuals in the government just to defend Deputy president William Ruto.
For instance, the man with his hustler Nation Intelligence Bureau keep referring to the cabinet secretary for security Dr. Fred Okengo Matiangi as The Ruaraka Land Thief.
Besides, he refers to the security permanent secretary Dr. Karanja Kibicho as the La mada Hotel PS. Itumbi dragged doctor Kibicho in the La Mada hotel meeting where he alleged that they planned to assassinate the deputy president.
This allegation drew bad blood between the blogger and a number of senior cabinet secretaries in the Uhuruto government.
However, many people have opined that Dennis Itumbi should not continue swallowing bullets for his boss Ruto since that would only compile his predicaments if his so called allegations of being kidnapped are anything to go by.
Veteran Blogger Robert Alai also subscribes to this narrative that it is not worth swallowing bullets for Ruto by brushing shoulders with the who and who in the government.
Alai cited Raila Amollo Odinga for instance, in 2017 and 2013 the opposition leader used to make sensitive remarks against the government such as revealing corruption matters and other crucial issues.
On the other hand, William Ruto has put Dennis Itumbi at the forefront of these critical revelations which seems not to be going on well with him if the latest news of allegations are anything to go by.
“First, let me wish quick Recovery to blogger Dennis Itumbi. I am told that he was dumped in Lucky Summer stark-naked after almost 6 hours of beatings and change of cars. He thought he was in Eldoret when the Taxi driver rescued him.
I blame Ruto for Itumbi’s predicament. Ruto is the contender for the Presidency and the main person in that contest. He has left all revelations he doesn’t want to make to be made by Itumbi. Now Itumbi has a fight with Matiangi, IG, DCI boss, courts etc.
When we supported Raila in the opposition, all very high level revelations were made by Raila and not Alai National Intelligence Bureau. The person who could handle that level is baba.
Ruto is trying to sacrifice Itumbi by putting him on the frontline while he hides and do business with the people he tells Itumbi to hate. Ruto should be held responsible for the state of health of Itumbi.” Wrote Alai.
Recently, Itumbi claimed that a Subaru car was trailing him and that the occupants who were pursuing him closely shot a bullet at him which missed him by a whisker. According to him, the main reason for that was because he was and is still loyal to the deputy president.
He later claimed that he went to the police station and recorded a statement with regards to the same. However, that case never saw light of day making citizens wonder whether there was an attempt in his life or whether it was just a made up script to taint the image of the government and gain sympathy.Â
