Deputy president William Ruto’s bodyguard sergeant Cheruiyot on Monday evening fell down from his boss’s car which was overspeeding.
According to some reports, Ruto’s convoy was running away from Rongai where their attempt to hold a rally was thwarted by celebrations of Martha Karua’s appointment as Raila Odinga’s running mate.
From the video seen by Sonko News, sergeant Cheruiyot was amongst the bodyguards surrounding Ruto’s car but he accidentally went down on the road as the vehicle continued with the journey.
However, the sergeant after a few minutes stood up and it is not very clear whether he was injured or not. He quickly boarded another car within the convoy and the journey continued.
The deputy president had taken his Kenya Kwanza rally to kajiado county where he sold his bottom up economic model just a day after he unveiled mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate.
The Kajiado campaign ran parallel with Azimio’s function at the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC) event where he named former Gichugu member of parliament Martha Karua as his running mate.
While there, the Kenya Kwanza leaders castigated Raila’s choice of the runningmate with Musalia Mudavadi lamenting why he did not settle on Kalonzo Musyoka.
“The Azimio remote controlled Presidential candidate unveils his Running mate and Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka bolts out as President Uhuru goes underground! A house built on sinking sand crumbles! Azimio in a nutshell.” Cried Musalia Mudavadi.
On her side, Kandara member of parliament Alice wahome blamed martha Karua as she accused her of siding with the side that would introduce the post of the prime minister through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). Interestingly, wahome complained of the expanded executive but Ruto also appointed Mudavadi as the chief prime minister which is outside the constitution.
