Sonko News has come across reliable reports that Deputy president William Samoei Ruto has a 2022 plan B strategy that is likely to send president Uhuru and former prime minister Raila Odinga panicking.
Of late, key political figures around Amani National Congress(ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi such as Cleophas Malala have not only been embracing DP Ruto but also keep lashing out at the opposition leader Raila Odinga.
According to Weekly Citizen, there are fears that if Ruto manages to bring Mudavadi on his side in a post election power-sharing formula together with national assembly Justin Muturi and Moses Wetangula of FORD Kenya, then the political equation in the country will completely change.
However, if cornered, sources claim that DP Ruto will launch another plan B that would equally shock the country.
Insiders say that the plan entails convincing the likes of Musalia Mudavadi and other like minded presidential candidates to go all the way to the ballot box then later share power on the basis of the number of seats won.
Weekly Citizen adds that in case of a re-run, then those in the post election deal will back whoever emerges in top two. This is aimed at locking out the opposition leader from Western counties such as Kakamega, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega and Vihiga.
On the other hand, speaker Muturi’s presidency is expected to take care of the Mt. Kenya East block. Muturi has shown interest to replace president Uhuru Kenyatta once he exits power in 2022. He had initially vowed to go to the ballot and only join a political coalition after the poll.
The Mudavadi Ruto factor has further been made appear real for instance, the ANC leader last week vehemently defended the deputy president from attacks by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The head of state had lashed out at the second in command for campaigning early and bashing other leaders such as Raila Odinga on the basis of age.
President Uhuru Kenyatta while speaking in Nakuru county made a direct attack at Ruto as he endorsed the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) for the top seat.
“You can start early campaigns with a sprint and tire on the way and the old man will come at his pace and overtake you. The race is not about a sprint but a marathon.” Uhuru Stated.
In response, Musalia Mudavadi disagreed with the president and insisted that it was time for the old generation leaders like Raila to give way for the younger ones.
“If people are worried that the young people are running very fast, then they must wake up to the reality that the young people are tired of us going too slowly. They want to see results and have jobs.” Said Musalia in defense of Ruto.
