It is really getting hot in the political world. Take a look at the top headlines this week.:
Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday, August 29, called out billionaires who had acquired their wealth by scamming Kenyans and fleecing public coffers.
During an address in Mombasa, the DP spoke out on the recent scandal at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA) stating that it had cost the country money for crucial services.
“Brokers are the most corrupt people. You even go and steal money meant to help sick people as Kenyans suffer without food.
“At KEMSA the graft there is said to have made billionaires, hamna aibu jameni (Have you no shame?)” he posed.
He added that the perpetrators had, directly and indirectly, caused the suffering of millions of Kenyans during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ruto further warned unseen characters who were interfering with his duties as the deputy president to desist from their schemes.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna revealed why the party had been silent in regard to Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s corruption charges.
Sifuna was responding to a firey reply from Deputy President William Ruto who accused ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga of double speak.
“We have demonstrated it, I’m giving the example of Migori Governor Okoth Obado, have you seen us calling for prayers like you saw at Walukhe’s home, we have not done that.
“The former Governor of Nairobi Evans Kidero is a staunch member of ODM, he is facing corruption charges but he understands that it has nothing to do with the party, we believe that he has the capacity to defend himself because we were not there when these things were happening,” he explained.
Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe has hit back at Deputy President William Ruto, warning him of new dire consequences after the DP pinpointed Murathe as the cause of divisions within the party.
Murathe first dared Ruto to quit, arguing that the DP had proven to be impatient and a thorn in the flesh of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The President’s ally stated that Ruto’s desire to run for 2022 had blinded him, adding that had the DP waited a little longer, Kenyatta would have run his campaign.
Murathe was infuriated by Ruto’s accusations after the DP was interviewed on Citizen TV by Editorial Director Joe Ageyo on Thursday night, August 27.

This is just the beginning and he has only just tasted a small portion of what awaits him. We will prove to him that he’s not as smart as he thinks,” Murathe stated in an interview with a local daily.
Murathe added that Ruto had betrayed their (Jubilee members) trust and also revealed the real reason as to why Ruto and Kenyatta broke up.
Police launched a manhunt for Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa after she went into hiding on Friday, August 28, owing to a directive issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Haji.
Haji had ordered the arrest of the rebel ODM MP over misappropriation of Ksh 19 million funds slated for the Community Development Fund (CDF).
“I direct that the above suspects be apprehended and arraigned in court to face the below listed charges under the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act No. 3 of 2003 and the Proceeds of Crime and Anti-Money Laundering Act. No. 9 of 2009,” read part of the statement.
