Ruto Must Go! Murkomen Clarifies Wild Chants After Being Heckled in Baringo

Date:

Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen on Sunday, November 26 met a wild crowd during a football tournament in Baringo County.

While giving his speech, rowdy youth who had attended the match started chanting ‘Ruto Must Go’. He was also heckled and directed to exit the stage.

However, in a long post, Murkomen clarified that the Ruto in question was a grassroots Football Kenya Federation (FKF) official and not President William Ruto.

“The officials did their best to resolve the matter, but the Baringo central team were not satisfied. Being the home team, and with their fans being more than half of the stadium, it was impossible to proceed with the match. The players and the fans poured their frustrations on FKF officials, especially one Mr. Ruto, whom they felt, was not addressing their concerns,” Murkomen wrote.

He however implored Baringo Governor Chesire Cheboi to solve the standoff involving Mr Ruto.

“I appreciate all the volunteers who have so far made the OKM Peace Cup a success. We look forward to the finals in Kapenguria. I believe Governor Cheboi, with the local leaders, will resolve the small matter soon, and we shall return to Baringo to watch the men’s final and award all the winners,” he stated.

“Sports can be emotive, but football is a beautiful and popular game that can be used to foster peace,” Murkomen added.

He added the tournament was key to addressing banditry headache in the region.
