It seems Kirinyaga woman rep Purity Wangui Ngirici is not taking kindly the newly found political love between deputy president William Ruto and governor Ann Waiguru.
As a result, Purity Ngirici has reportedly acquired a new political party in the wake of being sidelined by Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) following the entry of madam Waiguru.
According to local sources, William Ruto has decided to sideline Purity Wangui Ngirici because of her close relationship with interior principal secretary (PS) Karanja Kibicho.
Apparently, the Deputy President believes that Karanja Kibicho is at the forefront of blocking his 2022 presidential ambitions, hence has no soft spot for someone like Ngirici who is very close to the PS.
As a backup plan, Madam Ngirici together with her husband Andrew Ngirici has acquired a new political party called the Citizen Convention Party (CCP) where the hubby is the party leader.
“The woman representative even believes CCP can bag at least three parliamentary seats in Kirinyaga county. The CCP was launched in 2014 by Grace Akumu but failed to attract candidates for the 2017 elections, resulting in financial difficulties as it did not qualify for funding from the government.” Reported the local publication.
The woman rep is said to have been shopping for a political party after governor Waiguru joined Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA). This saw her husband Andrew Ngirici buy CCP and has so far assumed the position of the party leader.
Waiguru was warmly welcomed by the DP to UDA which sent a clear signal to Ngirici that she would not easily get the gubernatorial ticket under the UDA party as she hoped.
Waiguru Ngirici rivalry intensified last week in the presence of the deputy president after the two women accompanied the deputy president to Kirinyaga.
Competing in the politics of goonship, Wangui Ngirici was on that particular Sunday forced to cut short her speech at Gichugu town after she was booed by Waiguru’s angry goons.
DP Ruto had invited all the leaders to speak including governor Ann waiguru before finally welcoming Wangui Ngirici just after Waiguru finished addressing the roadside gathering.
However, all was not well for the woman rep as the crowd composed of Waiguru’s hired goons not only shouted at her but also waved their hands in protest.
Apparently, that day’s Kirinyaga contest between the two women was based on whose goons would carry the day and it seems Waiguru planned her hecklers well.
While at it, both governor Ann Waiguru and the woman rep maintained that they will back deputy president William Samoei Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) come rain come shine.
