Deputy President William Ruto has come up with a new ‘game plan’ to ensure that he wins votes ahead of the general elections.
The second in command is now requesting for five years of leadership and not 10 as it was before.
Speaking in Nyeri during the Kenya Kwanza Alliance tour, Ruto called upon locals to just give him five years to lead the country and the remaining five, he said, will be determined by the quality of his work in the first term.
“I know we have been having a debate that our president told us 10 years for him and 10 for Ruto but right now I don’t want 10, I first want us to agree on a five-year contract. If I succeed in the five years, add me more,” the second in command said.
Ruto, who is confident that he will emerge the winner of the August presidential elections, advised locals to find another person to lead the country in case he disappoints them.
“If someone does not take his responsibilities as required why would he be given more responsibilities.? Am ready for this test. I know that I will not fail it but if I become lazy, you are free to find another leader,” he insisted.
“We have to agree that every leader who has been given a leadership role must fulfill it just as they agreed with citizens,” he added.
Ruto organized the first bottom-up economic model conversations in Nyeri and similar conversations will be organized in all the counties across the country.
