President William Ruto has responded after Raila Odinga came out to reveal that the oil deal that Kenya allegedly signed with Saudi Arabia was a scam.
Speaking in Bomet on Sunday, Ruto challenged the opposition to provide evidence about their claims.
“I want to challenge the opposition, instead of telling us to prove that it is not a scam, let them prove to us that it is a scam,” he said.
The head of state added that his leadership is transparent and the contracts of the oil deal can be accessed in parliament.
“I am running a transparent government; all those contracts are available in Parliament. Stop saying you want the contracts, the contracts are public domain, there is no secret contract anywhere,” Ruto said.
“MPs from both the government and opposition are in Parliament, they can go look the at the contracts and interrogate, they will know we are running an administration that is above board and that looks for the best interests of the republic of Kenya, ” he added
On Thursday last week, Raila captured the nations attention when he shared details of the deal dubbed Government to Government memorandum of understanding.
The ODM leader said that Kenya did not enter the deal but only the ministry of energy, along with other key players in the oil business.
Raila added that the deal has seen Kenyans Kenyans struggle with the high cost of fuel prices.
He further said that landlocked countries that depended on Kenya for oil were now pulling out because it was becoming expensive.
“Well, the deal was a scam for which we now demand full disclosure and full accountability. It is corrupt and rotten to the core,” Raila said.
