Deputy president William Samoei Ruto has settled on the mathira member of parliament Rigathi Gachagua as his runningmate
William Ruto while appointing Rigathi gachagua described him as an astute politician who understood the bottom up economic model. He also revealed that he had worked with the Mathira member of parliament on many occasions hence it was only appropriate that he make him his deputy.
On his side, the Mathira legislator thanked the deputy president for trusting him and appointing him to take such an office.
He described it as one of the greatest days in his life, adding that without God all would not have been possible.
Rigathi added that he would not let the hustler nation down since he understands the challenges that face the people of Kenya having worked in every part of the country.
This came in the wake of a major standoff in Karen where the Kenya Kwanza leaders failed to agree on who amongst them would be Ruto’s runningmate.
According to reports, many leaders had expressed their dissatisfaction with the Mathira member of parliament given his tainted image on corruption matters. The leaders are said to have settled on the Tharaka Nithi member of parliament Kithure Kindiki due to his high level of education and zero negative public image.
However, Rigathi is said to have protested the decision to make Kindiki the runningmate since he had invested his time and resources to popularize the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) across the Mt. Kenya.
