A video circulated on social media earlier this week showing a man assaulting a woman in a living room before throwing her baby to the wall.
It was later reported that the man identified as 23-year old Mark Njuguna was arrested for killing the four month baby during the domestic fight.
According to the reports, the suspect had doubted that the baby was his child and had ordered her mother not to breastfeed her.
The incident allegedly took place at 1am, with the suspect ordering his wife, Mary Muthoni, to keep her mouth shut.
Muthoni however managed to sneak out of the house and informed her father in-law and some neighbors on what had transpired. They then arrested the suspect and took him to Kihumbuini Police Station where he is being held as police carry out investigations.
The video elicited lots of reactions from social media with some questioning what the baby had done to deserve that kind of punishment.

It has however emerged that the viral video was not from the Murang’a incident which was claimed to have been a CCTV footage.
It is evident that the clip is from a trailer of an upcoming Tanzanian movie titled Sitamani kuolewa tena.
The trailer was published on YouTube on January 26. The movie is aimed at educating the community on the wickedness that women and children face and at the same time fighting the injustice.
“This trailer of the Sitamani kuolewa tena film is a fictitious story and does not depict real life events. The story is aimed at educating the society and fighting against wickedness against women and children that is common in many African countries.
“In the film, there are traumatizing scenes and all that has been done with the aim of ensuring the message on wickedness is driven home. Such things should not happen in our societies. Let’s unite in stopping wickedness,” the publisher explained.
