Kipchumba Murkomen, the Senate majority leader is a visibly shaken man after reports of a looming ejection from the Majority seat emerged. The majority leader turned to Scripture to find strength amidst the storms he was facing in his plum position.
Taking to Twitter, the William Ruto ally posted an encouraging verse professing that God was with him and he would be strong and courageous in the face of the battle. Murkomen quoted a Bible verse from Joshua 1:9. It read,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be terrified or dismayed (intimidated), for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Perhaps more notably, the senator posted the verse a couple of hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta called a section of Jubilee senators to State House for a meeting, tomorrow, Monday, May 11.
His ouster and that of the Majority Whip is said to be one of the agendas of the convention. The majority leader has been a fierce critic of the president and an ardent supporter of the DP who is Uhuru’s political rival.
On the comments section, Kenyans reactions were mixed. Here are some of the comments:
dantorish If Uhuru touches you, we will demand for National fresh elections, we romove him from the presidency. Hatutaki ujinga
Josephat wabwire Bye former majority leader
Mr Tanui Are you attending tomorrow’s PG meeting?
Joshua Kim I just like how you guys are becoming regional preachers. Repent your sins.
Chebet?? No amount of intimidation will work against you.
Michael Jesse It’s working. Especially for a hypocrite like him it will always work. He is hurting himself more by hiding behind the bible verses.
Motari Gift Its been really nice having you as the Majority Leader.
This will be the first meeting of the strongly divided Jubilee legislators since the re-election of Uhuru and William Ruto into office in 2017.
Members of the Tanga Tanga faction had been at the forefront in the clamour for a PG meeting which they hoped would iron issues in the ruling party.
