Relief For Starving Counties As Senators Reach A Consensus On Revenue Sharing

A glimmer of hope for counties as special 12-member Senate Committee tasked with solving the revenue formula stalemate show a green light in the settling of the stalemate.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who is part of the team said they are nearing a solution.

“We are currently sitting as the Special Committee of the Senate on the third basis for revenue sharing. The happy ending is near,” he posted.

Just confirming that the senate has finally unlocked the stalemate, Murkomen has posted a tweet stating that the deal is done.

Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo on Thursday morning also tweeted “smoke”.

In photos shared via Twitter, the senate team seemed to be busy perusing the documents as they canvassed around it.

There were intensive consultations as senators were seen in groups with documents pertaining to the formula being perused.

Also Dennis Itumbi through twitter has shared a document which he has clearly stated that the win-win formula is possible.

This comes as the council of governors led by Wycliffe Oparanya declared that counties will be shut down on Thursday paralysis activities.

Oparanya’s sentiments attracted a lot of reactions from Senators who accused him of sabotaging their efforts and being in bed with the government which is denying counties funds.
