Raila’s Man Junet Mohamed Embarrasses Himself Again During Aisha Jumwa’s Vetting

Date:

Former Malindi town member of parliament Aisha Jumwa spent the better part of Tuesday afternoon defending her suitability following her nomination as gender and public service cabinet secretary.

Raila’s closest ally Junet Mohamed had claimed that Aisha Jumwa was not suitable to hold any public office given the many court cases surrounding her.

Specifically, Junet made reference to Aisha’s certificate of good conduct which stated that she has a murder case.

However, Junet was challenged by one of Ruto’s allies in the committee who argued that even president Uhuru and Ruto were allowed to hold public offices despite the Hague based court being on their neck.

In a rebuttal, Junet alleged that UhuruRuto were seeking elective positions while that of Aisha Jumwa was an appointive one. To respond to his concerns, a lady within the committee clarified to Junet that both (elective and appointive) posts were the same since they are public offices meant to serve Kenyans. Hence, the case of Aisha and of Uhuruto were not any different as Junet Implied. The response left the Suna East member of parliament with an egg on his face, forcing him to forever hold his peace during the interview.

At the same time, Ugunja member of parliament Opiyo Wandayi had challenged Aisha Jumwa to explain why she got a masters prior to getting a degree. Being a smart politician, Aisha claimed that it was not necessarily a masters but just a certificate after she enrolled for some short courses in the university.

On his side, speaker Wetangula urged members not to focus on the academic certificates for members since it was not within their discretion to tell which one was fake or not.

“Let’s proceed ladies and gentlemen. At the end of the day you will have access to these documents. Number two, it is not the foundation upon which she was nominated to this position. So, if it turns out not to be a genuine document or degree is neither here nor there. We leave it to the agencies that deal with matters of this nature.

The very most we can do is to ask the quality assurance department in education agency to tell us what it is. Like I said, there is no requirement to have a degree to be nominated to the cabinet minister. Number two, if Hon. Aisha brings degrees that are not degrees the consequences are known.” Said Wetangula to rescue the former Malindi town MP.
