Hon. Raila Odinga was instructed to leave as supporters proceeded to crowd the door to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters.
Supporters of Azimio had congregated near Mazingira House on Kiambu Road where the DCI HQ is located.
The opposition leader was at the DCI headquarters, to witness former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’ statement proceedings after his return from a trip abroad.
Head of Police Operations, at the DCI, Said Kiprotich and Head of Investigations, Eliud Lagat appeared to talk to Raila Odinga at the entrance shortly after his arrival.
They informed Mr Odinga that it was unnecessary for him to be present at the DCI headquarters since it was causing and attracting uncalled for attention.
“I am under instruction that none of you should be allowed to come in,” a police officer told Raila, at the gate.
In connection with a purported raid on his Karen house last month, Matiang’i was submitting a statement at the DCI headquarters.
“I am a public officer, I cannot be barred from a public office, I have to see the director, what law is that,” Raila said.
The policemen who denied Raila entry at the DCI headquarters were seriously criticized by the Azimio La Umoja and ODM Party leader.
