Votes were not stolen at the polls, according to Raila Odinga.
Raila Odinga now says that the national tallying center, not the polling places, was where his election victory was fraudulently stolen from him.
In contrast to what the coalition’s leaders have asserted, Raila claimed that votes were stolen at Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.
Saitabao Kanchory, the chief agent for Azimio, had earlier indicated that Raila’s loss was caused by the coalition’s lack of representation in several polling places.
Kanchory also said that some of Raila’s closest aides, including Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, handled the election workers irresponsibly.
In an interview with Citizen TV that broadcast on December 27, Raila maintained that he had won the election and he never lost due to lack of agents at the polling stations.
“Even if there were no agents, then it shouldn’t be a license for anyone to steal elections.”
“Our votes were stolen at the tallying centre and not at the polling stations. Our campaigns were the most organised,” Mr. Odinga says.
Regardless of if they have officials at the polls, according to Raila, the electoral commission must make sure that all candidates’ votes are protected.
“It shouldn’t be that when a candidate doesn’t have an agent at a particular polling station, then his or her votes are stolen,” he further added.
