The Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Amollo Odinga may not name his running mate today at Nairobi’s kamukunji ground.
According to reports, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader will name his deputy on Monday at 11.30 AM contrary to claims that he was to name the running mate today.
According to our sources, this postponement deals Ruto another blow since the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leader had been waiting for Raila to name the deputy before he can unveil too.
Ruto was to name his running mate on Saturday for the better part of Saturday with reports that he was to name him/her at 9AM, which was pushed to 1PM, 3PM, 5PM and eventually 9PM. They then announced through their spokesman Hussein Mohamed that they would make the big announcement today on Sunday at 11AM.
However, Ruto is yet to name the deputy. Sonko News has since established that the deputy president was hoping that Raila could name his deputy on Sunday morning before he names one since his choice is pegged on Raila’s choice.
With the postponement by the Azimio party leader to tomorrow Monday, Ruto might have to wait for longer for the ODM boss to unveil his deputy before he decides too.
Azimio will be having a rally today at Kamukunji but reports reveal that the opposition leader is currently meeting president Uhuru Kenyatta at an undisclosed location. In attendance are Nairobi Azimio aspirants, Martha Karua, Polycarp Igathe, Peter Kenneth and Sabina Chege.
