The Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has vehemently denied president elect William Ruto’s last minute invite to the Kasarani stadium.
Raila who is outside the country to attend to some treatment shared a statement with the mainstream media that he had indeed received an invitation by Mr. Ruto to attend his swearing in ceremony.
However, the Orange Democratic Movement made it clear that he will not be attending the ceremony since he still believes the election was bungled by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to favor his rival William Ruto.
Raila also castigated the Supreme court judgment that dismissed his petition, insisting that the judgment was based on politics as opposed to law.
The Azimio leader added that he will come back and continue pushing for the country to realize its democratic gains that were hard earned.
The statement by Raila came in the wake of a resolution by ODM leaders to keep William Ruto’s government in check so that they deliver on the ambitious manifestos they promised Kenyans.
The move by ODM was informed by a decision of president elect William Ruto to buy Azimio affiliated leaders that ought to be in opposition to oversight the government.
While Ruto’s decision to buy Azimio leaders has been praised by his supporters, majority of kenyans have castigated him with some claiming that he is not only killing opposition but also returning Kenya back to the dark days where Moi was in bed with all the MPs including those from opposition.
In the meantime, the president elect will be sworn in on Tuesday with more than 20 heads of states and around 2,500 very important persons expected to attend.
