William Ruto has now resorted to manufacture animosities and hatred by inciting Kikuyus primarily against Luos as witnessed during his rallies in Mt Kenya.
Ruto started profiling the Luo tribe and Raila Odinga in his rallies in Mt Kenya following the violence that was witnessed in Kondele, Kisumu on November 10th.
Police blamed Ruto for the violence which they said happened after two rival groups fought over handouts given to them by the DP.
Speaking on the violence in Kondele, ODM leader Raila Odinga distanced himself and his party from the chaos.
“Mimi sitaki kuingia kwa mambo ya porojo, labda niongee kwa mwambo ya ukweli, Ruto ni Mkenya na anaruhusiwa kutembea popote kuuza sera zake. (I don’t want to be part of gossip, maybe I speak the truth, Ruto is a Kenyan and is allowed to sell his agenda anywhere),” Raila said in an interview with a local radio station.
However, Ruto while campaigning in Kiambu county on November 13th 2021 told residents that it was Raila who organized for him to be stoned in Kisumu.
“Yani sisi watu tuko na mpango, sisi watu tumepanga kazi imekaa mzuri ati tumekosa akili, ati tumekosa mpango mbaka tunaenda kukodeshewa mtu ya kupanga mawe, mtu wa kutupa mawe, hakuna kitu amejenga ati akuje atuongoze. Aaaa hapana hapana. Hio ni matusi, namwambia hawa wakina Nyoro (Kiambu governor James Nyoro) sisi tuko na akili bwana. Wacha kuenda kutuletea mambo ya huyu mtu wa kitendawili (Raila),” Ruto told Kiambu residents.
Ruto’s sentiments in Kiambu attracted condemnation as concerned people warned the DP was playing dangerous tribal politics.

Fast forward to November 17th, Ruto was at it again inciting Merus against Luos while campaigning in Tharaka Nithi county.
Ruto told residents in Tharaka Nithi not to vote for Raila because he organized youth in Kisumu to stone him and that he also organized for railway track to be uprooted.
“Ati mtu wa kitendawili, si mimi nlikua Kisumu. Si amepanga ati nipigwe mawe na vijana. Mtu ya kupanga mambo ya kupigana mawe anaweza kutuongoza sisi kweli? Mtu ya kupanga kung’oa reli ati atatuongoza? Mtu ya kuvunja machama ati ndo atatuongoza? Ahh hapana hio ni mchezo mkubwa sana. Ama niaje watu wa Tharaka?
“Si sisi ni watu tumejipanga? Nyinyi munataka mtu ya kupanga kupigana mawe ama ya kupanga maendeleo? Munataka mtu ya kubomoa ama munataka mtu wa kujenga? Hii mtu ya kitendawili si ni ya kubomoa? Si amebomoa reli? Si amebomoa hii machama yote? Sahi chama ya Jubilee si imesambaratika? Si mpango ya Big 4 alisimamisha? Munataka mtu ya kutupeleka nyuma ama ya kuenda mbele? Sasa si tuko tayari? Si tumejipanga? Si chama ni UDA? Si mpango ni bottom up?” Ruto said.
Ruto’s words were not only profiling Raila but his Luo community, further fanning ethnic animosity in the country.
The DP’s dangerous sentiments comes even as leaders in Mt Kenya called him out for insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and governors from the region.
