Friday was not a good day for Collins Sembeya from Chamasili in Vihiga, who was crucified on a tree for allegedly stealing a radio and a flash disk.
According to reports, the items belonged to Elvis Irime who caught him and instead of reporting the matter he took the law into his hands by applying one of the deadliest and ancient Roman Customary punishments.
Irime nailed Sembeya on a tree by driving two roofing nails on his palms just like what was done to Jesus during his crucifixion.
The matter was reported by the area chief to the police through a phone call.
“It was reported by the North Izava location chief, namely Evans Endesha by phone, that he received a report that a person had been nailed on a tree by some people,” part of the police report read.
Irime however ran away when he saw police approaching the scene to evade arrest but the police have since launched a manhunt for him.
“Police visited the scene and found that one male adult namely Collins Sambaya aged 19years had been injured by one Elvis Irime by nailing him on a tree on allegations that the victim had stolen his radio within Chamasili village.
“Upon seeing the police approaching the scene, the assailant suspect (Elvis Irime) ran away and is still at large,” the report further said.
The victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Decrucification process by area residents. This would be a good way to deal with corrupt political and business elite of Kenya, not your brothers fellow Kenyans. pic.twitter.com/7PLwoIqtDk

“”The victim was successfully rescued and rushed to Mbale Referral Hospital in stable condition where he is receiving treatment,” the police said.
The photos of the scene have elicited reactions among Kenyans with most of them calling for the arrest for the suspect.
“Pictures of that ‘Crucified’ boy in Vihiga are traumatizing. You don’t do that to a human being.I hope whoever did that will be nabbed,” Ole Teya said.
“@FredMatiangi uko na challenge mengine ndio hayo vihiga.. @DCI_Kenya @NPSOfficial_KE immediately take an action with the guy who did this inhumane act
“The suspects ought to go through the same torturous actions,” Godwin Sikei wrote.
