Queen Elizabeth Burial: Unique Coffin Features That Made It Unnecessary To Preserve Body At The Morgue

Date:

Unlike most presidents in Africa, the late Queen Elizabeth II was not being taken to the morgue for the period she was lying in state.

When someone like a president dies like in the case of Kenya as witnessed when President Kenyatta, former President Moi and Mwai Kibaki died, their bodies were lying in state and at the end of the day, they would be taken to the Lee Funeral Home to spend a night and be preserved for the next day.

However, this was not the case for the late Queen Elizabeth. According to sources, her coffin had special features that could not allow the body to decompose. In fact, the special features made it totally unnecessary for her to be taken to the morgue and back. The coffin was made with unique and expensive materials ranging from gold to lead.

“By the way, the Queen’s coffin was made 30 years ago in preparation for her death. It is lined with lead to prevent decomposition, reason the body did not have to be taken to the morgue for the period she has been lying in state for a week at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland then later at Westminster Hall in London, England.” Said one Miss Pauline who at some point got the opportunity to share moments with the Royal family in the United Kingdom.

In the meantime, the cortège carrying Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor (Queen Elizabeth II) is currently headed to Windsor, for the final commitment which will take place at George’s Chapel. Interestingly, this is the same place where her husband and parents were laid to rest.

As a result, Queen Elizabeth will be laid next to the parents and husband. This spot is called King George VI memorial Chapel. The ashes of the Queen’s sister Margaret were also placed here according to the source.
